The 'health' of the global stainless steel industry has been widely dominated by events in China. Raw material prices 'exploded' as a result of the rapid expansion of the Chinese stainless steel industry who produced 52% of the global output last year. Then, raw material prices collapsed as the 20 year long expansion came to a sudden halt. Now virtually everyone in our industry has to re-write their textbook for the coming years and adjust their strategy accordingly.
